Great news for movie buffs, since the site Open Culture, whose mission is to make all kinds of educational and cultural media available to the general public throughout the world, has just made available online 700 films and documentaries made by big names in cinema.
The program includes a wide range of short and feature films dating from the beginnings of cinema to the present day and directed by monuments such as Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, the Lumière brothers, Fritz Lang and even Stanley Kubrick and Quentin Tarantino.
In reality, more than just making films available, it is an inventory of films available on the web in their full version on different platforms such as Youtube, Vimeo, The Internet Archive, IMDB… But there is a lot of work behind it for our greatest pleasure!
To simplify your searches, the films are grouped into 6 categories: Comedy and drama, Horror and Hitchcock, Western, Silent film, Documentary and Animation.
However, don't expect to find recent films there since in all cases they are royalty-free films.. Also note that the vast majority of these films are in English without subtitles.
The Open Culture website, like the film list, is rather austere, but that's not the point.
In addition, diversity is there since you will even find the fabulous Pink Floyd live in Pompeii in 1972! Come on, that's not all but I have some classics to catch up on!
