9 Services for Sending Large Files via Email

Article updated on January 3, 2025 by Byothe

Who has never wanted to send a large file by email to a friend, a colleague, a brother?

Our files are getting bigger and bigger and our traditional email boxes only allow us to send files of a few megabytes. To achieve this, we must therefore turn to a free or paid service (both in most cases).

In this post we will offer you 9 Services That Let You Email Large Files. So here is a non-exhaustive list that guarantees us the means to do it.

WeTransfer is a tool for sending large files. Simple, fast and practical tool, you just have to add the files, specify the email address of your contacts, as well as the sender, and possibly, an accompanying message (for more details see our article).WeTransfer

  • Sizabledsend.com (does not work anymore)

Sizable Send is an online service that allows you to send up to 2 Gigabytes of files by email for free, unlimited. Files can be stored temporarily online or deleted automatically once uploads are complete.
Sizable Send sends the recipient an email containing a URL inviting them to download the transmitted data (they can be password protected). Once on the site, the recipient only has to click on "download"

  • OneTimeBox.org (does not work anymore)

OneTimeBox is an unsecured file sharing box. All you have to do is create a "Box" and drag the files you want to share into it. All you have to do is copy the URL and send it to your friends. Once this address is entered in their browser, they will be able to drop their documents there and retrieve yours.OneTimeBox

  • Goaruna.com

Go Aruna is a free service that allows you to share large files online. You can share files up to 100 MB without registration. All you have to do is give an email address, upload your file (photos, videos, documents, PDFs, etc.), then validate a second address, that of your recipient.Goaruna

  • Jetbytes.com (does not work anymore)

Jetbytes allows you to share files in real time with your contacts and friends. The principle of this service is simple, you select the file you want to share and immediately Jetbytes creates the URL link that will be used for the download. All you have to do is send this link to the person for whom the file is intended. Unlike several P2P services, Jetbytes does not host your files.Jetbytes

  • Sharefest.me (does not work anymore)

The operation of the service is very simple, you have to access the site, then drag and drop the file you intend to send. The download link will then appear and you can share it by email, on social networks or by copying it and sending it directly by yourself. The maximum size of a file is 250 MB for the moment and you must not close the site window before the end of the download otherwise it will stop!Sharefest

  • PipeBytes.com (does not work anymore)

This site connects 2 people in order to authorize a file transfer. It works a bit like sending a file under Skype except that it does not require any software. You connect to PipeBytes, you select the file you want to send, there is no size limit. Then, you are given a URL with an access code that you transmit to a friend and you just have to wait while remaining connected to the site. Your friend connects to the site on his side and there you are connected both. You must not close the site window before the end of the download otherwise it will stop!Pipebytes

MailBigFile is an online service that allows you to send large files (up to 2 GB) with a maximum of five files at a time. To use it, simply drag and drop the files you want to share, indicate the recipient's email address, as well as your own, and that's it. Be aware, however, that the files are only kept online for 10 days by MailBigFile, but that still leaves some time for your recipients to retrieve them.mailbigfile

HighTail allows you to send files up to 2 GB from your computer or mobile device and to control exactly who can access your documents. It is an essentially collaborative tool, for example it allows you to have your documents digitally signed by your collaborators. It also allows you to protect your files with data encryption and sharing controls.HighTail

As you will have noticed, most of these services are in English but are intuitive enough (in most cases) to be understood even by non-English speakers.

Conclusion

These "traditional" means of sending a large file by email are however tending to disappear, increasingly giving way to so-called "Cloud" services such as DropBox, Google Drive, etc. These new services, open in the case of Google Drive to Gmail account holders, allow their users to store their files directly online, rather than on their hard drive, and to share them freely with other Internet users.

That being said, it is not uncommon to have a use for it for specific needs… so take your pick!
