We regularly hear about online services being hacked and by extension user data being leaked. It's not easy to track all the hacks, but if it turns out your personal data, including one or more of your passwords, may be floating around on the web...
It is therefore important to know this, so that you can react appropriately by deleting your account or changing your password, for example.
Created by security expert Troy Hunt, Have I been pwned? (“pwned” means “having been had” in English) is a site that will allow you to check if a username or an email address belongs to a database that has been leaked on the web.
The big advantage of this site is that it lists all the data leaks on the web and allows you to carry out a search to find out if your data is part of it (don't worry, the tool cannot be used as a search tool for Passwords since it only includes user names and email addresses in its databases).
Be careful though, just because your email doesn't appear in the database doesn't mean it hasn't been leaked. In fact, not all leaked data is necessarily made public.
Finally if you wish to receive an alert When your email or username appears in the database following a leak, you can click on " Notify me when I get pwned » and you will be notified if necessary!
