Is Destiny Eleven truly living up to its hype? That's the question we asked ourselves when we discovered this football career game. Launched in the wake of the 2026 World Cup, the title quickly went viral. In just nine days, it reportedly gathered over 1,15 million unique players. It also generated over 14 million careers. Enough to pique anyone's interest.
The concept? You create a 16-year-old player and guide him throughout his career until retirement. Transfers, injuries, life choices, trophies to win… every decision can influence the rest of the adventure. The game offers a much more accessible experience than Football Manager, and all without spending a single euro. We tested this game, created by Maxence Pigné, a 25-year-old from Rouen, and here's our review.
Getting started: a completely free game with no download required
What's immediately appealing about Destiny Eleven is its simplicity. You go to the website from your computer or smartphone, and you can start your first game. You don't even need to create an account.
The interface is minimalist, with a green background reminiscent of a lawn. At the top of the screen, there's a permanent dashboard summarizing essential information. It displays the player's age, overall rating, market value, and two colored gauges to track their physical and mental state.
A career can last between 3 and 5 minutes if you quickly make choices or activate random mode. If you take the time to read each event and think about your decisions, expect it to last 25 to 30 minutes.
Another good point: Destin Eleven is free, and truly remains so. Donations made on Ko-fi to support the project are entirely optional and provide no in-game privileges. Throughout our entire test, we encountered neither intrusive advertising nor pay-to-win mechanics, which makes the experience particularly enjoyable.
A wealth of choices: the real life of a professional footballer
Beyond its quick learning curve, it's the richness of the scenarios that truly captivated us. You create your avatar by choosing from 27 nationalities and 4 positions: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, or striker. Then you define your starting path, from futsal to a working-class neighborhood and finally to a training academy.
Then, you develop your footballer season after season. Very quickly, you realize that each of your decisions can influence his career.
- His playing style: you choose the role he will occupy on the field: striker, attacking full-back, goalkeeper… Each profile improves certain skills, but can also have consequences on his overall performance
- His life off the pitch: expensive purchases, friends, tensions in the locker room, or statements to the press… These choices can affect his morale, his physical condition, and his relationship with the coach.
- Important decisions: Should you attempt a risky technical move in the cup final? Join a big club abroad, risking being benched? At several points, you have to make a decision without always knowing the consequences of your choice.
When your player starts to lose speed and fitness around age 34 or 35, the game offers several options for managing the end of his career. You can make him a mentor to a young talent, offer him one last challenge at a smaller club, or prepare him for a career change into coaching.
Replayability, quests, and the shop: why we keep coming back
In terms of replayability, this is, in our opinion, one of Destin Eleven's biggest strengths. There are 37 badges to collect, a Daily Challenge, and a Duel mode with friends. You'll quickly want to restart a career to do better.
Daily and weekly quests reward you with virtual tokens. These tokens can be used to unlock perks in the shop for your next games (like Nuggets or Silver Spoons). These bonuses are automatically disabled in the Daily Challenge, ensuring all players start on equal footing.
We also really enjoyed the story-driven Story Mode. It challenges you to beat the score of a legend like "The Maestro." And when your player retires, you can download their summary card to keep a memento of their career.
A few limitations to keep in mind
However, it's not all perfect. Our main regret is not being able to choose our player's first and last name. Destiny Eleven decides for you and assigns you a random name, like Rayan Roche or Jules Marchand.
We also found that the element of chance could be a little frustrating at times. Losing a major final due to a stroke of bad luck without really understanding why is always a bit annoying. And even though the website runs very well on smartphones, we'd really like to see a proper dedicated mobile app in the future.
Our verdict on Destin Eleven
The game is incredibly easy to pick up, very fun, and fully available in French, with polished text. If you find typical simulations a bit too demanding, Maxence Pigné's title is just what you need. It's the perfect little treat to give you a good dose of football, quick and stress-free.
