Summer 1992, in gestation for 15 years, the points-based driving license made its (eventful) appearance in the pockets of French drivers with 6 points then, finally 12 points that you can lose in the event of an infringement.
24 years later (gulp), while the 3-part pink card has been replaced since 2013 by a much more practical and much more secure rigid card, a new website has been put online by the ANTS (National Agency for Secure Titles) which complements the site Telepoints already existing.
What's the point, you might ask, since there was already a site?
The answer is simple. With Télépoints, the process of consulting your points is laborious. You must first retrieve identifiers from the prefecture using the Relevé Intégral d'Information.
With France Connect (yes, yes, the penny-pinchers worked day and night like crazy to come up with this incredible name), the process is very clearly simplified. In fact, you will be able to use your existing accounts on Impots.gouv.fr, ameli.fr or idn.laposte.fr.
Visit France Connect and remember to enable pop-ups for this page on your browser, because the connection to the site is done via a pop-up (a very surprising choice in 2016 when we know that most, if not all, internet browsers block pop-ups by default).
Once connected to the service, you just have to enter your license number to drive (2 times) and click on validate.
Your points balance will then be displayed on the screen and you will have access to information on how to recover points if necessary!
In the end, this service set up in April 2016 is very practical and easy to use. You will finally be able to access your points balance very easily! In the meantime, continue to drive carefully to keep all your points!
