The big buzz at the moment in the French media sphere is the release of Molotov.
Created by Jean-David Blanc, Pierre Lescure and Jean-Marc Denoual, Molotov is a “television distribution platform” which aims to revolutionize the way we watch television… quite a program!
Molotov comes in the form of a downloadable application for PC or tablets that respects all the usual codes of television by adding additional features for an enriched experience. All this, with an interface that I find really very successful and pleasant in terms of ergonomics.
Indeed, Molotov will allow you to watch 33 TV channels live, including 25 DTT channels, by displaying them in the form of posters allowing you to see everything that is happening on each channel at a glance: name of the program, progress, etc., all classified by program type.
In a few days, the "Bookmarker" option (which was a little delayed) will allow you to mark the programs of your choice in order to save them for later access in your personal space on Molotov (you initially have 10 hours of storage) from any device.
Finally, you can follow personalities (actors, presenters, politicians, sportsmen, etc.) in order to be alerted as soon as they appear on television!
But that's not all, because the creators of the platform still promise many things to come in the coming months!
Molotov's basic features are free, but there are two no-commitment plans available to expand the app's functionality:
- For €3.99 per month, you can have an additional 100 hours of storage for recording your programs.
- For €9.99 per month, in addition to 100 hours of storage, you will have a total of 70 channels in HD
In short, Molotov is a free application (with some paid options) that looks very promising and could well radically change the way we watch television by gradually making us switch from the TV to our computer, smartphone and tablet!
