Not a week goes by without new tools and demos being put online to demonstrate to us, if it is still necessary, to what extent artificial intelligence and deep learning are very promising technologies.
This time it is a team of NVIDIA researchers, famous for its graphics cards, which presents to us GauGAN, a system that uses artificial intelligence to transform images scribbled on a canvas in the style of “Micorsoft Paint” into realistic landscapes.
Unveiled last March, this feat is now the subject of a demo that you will be able to test.
Its principle is simple, on the left, your work and on the right the interpretation made by the machine. To make your drawing, you have to choose an element from a list, as if you were choosing a color to paint. Among these elements, you will be able to draw areas of sky, trees, clouds, mountains, grass, sea, river, plants, road, snow…
Once your drawing is finished, click on the arrow framed between the two frames to start the AI mill (the site will first ask you to accept the terms of use by checking a box located at the bottom of the page). You will then see a photo generated by the machine and supposed to represent what you wanted to draw.
In some cases the result is incredible, but in others it is a bit more doubtful. You will have to be patient before you get to something complex and credible. Nevertheless, you will notice that this tool handles reflections in water absolutely well…
In short, even if this tool still has room for improvement, it allows you to achieve truly incredible things, and I have no doubt that you will spend a few minutes trying to create truly bucolic landscapes!
I don't know about you, but I find that really impressive!
