Whatever you're doing right now, your web browser knows about it. Sure, it can see what websites you're visiting, since it has to process that information to display the page… but there's a lot more going on in the background.
Clickclickclick is a very intriguing website that reveals all the information your browser is collecting at any given moment. When you arrive on the site, sentences start to appear and a voice in English welcomes you. Then little by little other sentences appear as you move your mouse. The voice tells you what browser you are using, where you live and starts to comment on your movements.
At this point, things get weirder and weirder. Pretty much every action you take is listed and displayed on the screen. The voice tries to guess your gender based on your behavior (the way you click, for example). The voice can even get a little sassy, if you switch tabs you'll get told off!
As you complete certain “tasks,” you begin to earn “achievements” (achievements) that make you think it's a game. After a while, it becomes harder to stop clicking everywhere... the will to unlock all the achievements starts to take over. But be careful, it's not that easy. The first 50 percent of the achievements are relatively easy to get, but after that it gets harder.
This UFO of the web between game and experience was created by VPRO Medialab et Studio Moniker Big Data and web profiling specialists to demonstrate the extent to which behavior on a website can be tracked and analyzed.
In the end, this achievement is rather amusing and I invite you to try it for yourself to discover all the surprises and hidden jokes!
