Before I start a new TV series that will monopolize a few hours of my life, I like to get the opinion of friends, acquaintances on Twitter or at least base myself on the ratings and evaluations of the series in question.
If you are like me fans of effective performances given and TV series, TVCharts is a site that you should like! Indeed, this site allows you to view at a glance the rating of each episode of each season of a given series.
TVCharts offers a very readable rating matrix
When you are on the site, you can enter the name of the series that interests you in the one and only field on the site. Please note, you will have to enter the name of the series in English.
You will then see a page dedicated to the series appear with its poster, a matrix representing all the episodes with their rating out of 10 and a color indicator allowing you to have a quick overview: if the box is red the rating is bad, yellow it is average and the greener it is, the better the rating!
At the matrix level, the columns represent the seasons and the rows are the episodes of each season.
Finally, on the side you will also have a top 3 of the best rated episodes and a flop 3 of the worst episodes.
This is what it looks like for the series The Office:
The data that TVChart aesthetically renders comes from the IMDb databases, the world reference for films, series and others video games... Moreover, all the episodes are clickable and redirect to its IMDb page.
This representation of a series' ratings is very interesting to see the evolution of the quality of a series. In the case of The Office above, for example, season 9 seems to be struggling compared to the other seasons (with the exception of the last 3 episodes which seem to have been unanimously acclaimed).
In short, before you start watching a series and to see if it lasts the distance, don't hesitate to take a look at TVCharts... you'll learn a lot in the blink of an eye!
