In this period of rich news regarding smartphones, it is not always easy to get an idea of a phone, especially in terms of its dimensions.
Of course, it is possible to find a lot of information online about the characteristics of a smartphone, comparisons, photos and even tests, but it is always difficult to get an idea of the size of a phone, its screen… and the layout of all its connectors. This data is particularly important if you want to order a new smartphone online… especially if it is on pre-order!
This is where this online tool can come in handy. Hotspot3D is a visualizer that gives you a 360-degree view of a number of recent phones, allowing you to compare two by two around twenty smartphone models: iPhone XS, iPhone XR, Galaxy S9, Xperia XA2, Huawei P20… and so on.
So you can view an iPhone XS and an iPhone 7 side by side and you'll see that with a chassis that's just slightly larger than the 7, the iPhone XS has a significantly larger screen!
To make the comparison even more accurate, you even have an option to choose the color of the phone based on existing models.
Once you have chosen the two models you want to compare, all you have to do is rotate the image with the tip of your mouse to view the phones from several angles. 6 buttons also allow you to position yourself in very specific places: front, back, top, bottom, etc.
There are 23 phones in total to compare against each other, but also a credit card to get a real sense of scale. The site was launched earlier this year by a team based in the Netherlands and even works on mobile.
We regret, however, that the developers did not add the complete characteristics of the smartphones, which would have made it the ultimate tool for deciding before buying online... but maybe that will come later!
