If you happen to work in a noisy environment (teleworking with children, library, transport, etc.) you know how difficult it can be to stay focused on what you are doing or rather trying to do.
When I'm working on something very important, that I don't want to be disturbed by, I usually put music in my ears... but sometimes, the music distracts me... and I start singing!
A good alternative to music is to use ambient sound to break up background noise, relax you and help you focus on the task at hand.
To Soft Murmur is a website dedicated to ambient sound. It was designed to help you focus by letting you create a custom ambient sound based on your taste or location.
You will be able to mix 10 ambient sounds to create your perfect sound in all circumstances: rain, thunder, waves, wind, fire, birds, crickets, café atmosphere, Tibetan singing bowl and/or white noise. Each of these sounds has a volume slider to highlight the ones you want.
If you like one of your mixes, you can save it by clicking on the "Mixes" button or even share it by email or on social networks.
The tool also has options to fluctuate the volume of sounds or stop the sound after a certain time.
Finally, if you like the site and want more sounds, know that there is an extended version with 13 additional sounds, which will cost you the equivalent of $9 per year.
In short, if you want to improve your concentration at work, I advise you to try this type of site… some will hate it, others will not be able to do without it. In any case, it is worth a try!
