At first, the web was a zone of exchange and freedom… almost everything was allowed, with its good and bad sides. Then some abused the system, pushing the regulator to intervene, particularly in the context of the protection of your data. Thus, the European Union has requested that each website ask users' permission before depositing tracking cookies on their machine.
Most of the time, cookies are harmless. They are files that allow you to be recognized when you visit a site, in order to remember your preferences.
But with this new European regulation, an irritating fashion has appeared on all the sites in order: the insertion of banners asking you to authorize the use of cookies… You must therefore constantly accept (or not) these requests by clicking on a button. In any case, in most cases you do not really have a choice if you really want to access the content of the websites.
But, if you want to clean up the web a little by making these banners disappear, know that there is a browser extension that allows you to do it!
I do not care about cookies (literally " I don't care about cookies") is a free extension developed for Chrome, Firefox, Opera and also exists as a filter for Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin.
This extension will block cookie banners and tell websites you visit which cookies you allow to be placed on your computer. By default, these are all cookies that are necessary for the websites to function properly, but you can change the permissions in the extension settings.
Some cookie warnings slip through the cracks I do not care about cookies, but overall it works pretty well and makes your browsing smoother.
Too bad there isn't a version for mobile Safari, because it's clearly on smartphones that these alerts are the most annoying!!!
