Since the first hominids, our body has changed to adapt to our habits and our environment. Over the past few decades, new technologies have revolutionized our way of living and our way of interacting with our environment.
While these technologies have many positive aspects in terms of efficiency, comfort and even life expectancy, more and more signs suggest that these advances can have a negative effect on our bodies. To try to determine the impact of everyday technologies on humans, the TollFreeForwarding teams relied on scientific research and expert opinions to create a "future human" whose body would have evolved due to the daily use of smartphones, computers and other common technologies.
This is Mindy, the woman of the future?
And that's how, with the help of a 3D designer, they designed Mindy, the woman of the future!

An arched back and neck
Mindy's most striking feature is her hunched appearance due to her arched back and neck.
This development is thought to be the result of bad habits related to the positions we adopt when looking at our smartphone or working on a computer. By constantly adjusting our position to look down at our phone or up at the screen of our desk, the parts of our body that determine our posture are put to the test.
For the neck, we call it "tech neck" and this is explained by the fact that the more you look down, the more your muscles will have difficulty keeping your head up.
The texting clamp

The 90 degree elbow
The massive use of smartphones also involves a transformation of the elbow, whose natural position will imply that it will be bent at 90 degrees.
A thicker skull and a smaller brain
Again, this transformation reflects concerns about the potential damage to our brains from the waves emitted by our smartphones and the various networks that surround us. Some scientists believe that these waves could have an impact on the development of the youngest. As a form of protection, they would develop thicker skulls in order to protect their brains.
A second eyelid

Several studies have shown that screen time can cause headaches, eye strain, and even partial blindness. So, to combat these problems, Mindy's body has evolved by developing an inner eyelid that protects her from excessive exposure to the blue light from our screens.
The impact of technologies on our health?
Of course, Mindy is just a deliberately caricatured projection of how our bodies could change over the next millennia. These changes are based on the present and imagine how we could evolve if we had the same technologies for a very long period of time. They have almost no chance of happening as is!
Nevertheless, this representation serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with the excessive use of these everyday technologies. Because if the human body is likely to adapt in the long term, on the scale of our life, these technologies can have a concrete impact on our health!
So when you work on a computer or smartphone, don't forget a few basic precautions: get up regularly for a few minutes, every 20 minutes look into the distance for 20 seconds... and then do some sport!
