3 years ago, when I was still writing for iPhoneSoft.fr, a blog specializing in the world of the iPhone, I wanted to embark on a new adventure. So I decided to start my own blog to share with my friends the tips and tricks that I could glean here and there on the web. In a few days, Byothe.fr – Trucs, bidules et machins du web was born.
What also amused me in this adventure was that beyond writing articles, there was also all the technical management of the blog: choosing a platform, choosing a theme, buying a domain name... and then keeping all that in place.
I learned a lot about how blogs work, their administration, their SEO… but also about the whole economic side of this “business” with in particular the setting up of advertising partnerships and the organization of competitions. I even started to participate very occasionally in events for bloggers… it’s a real cult!
And honestly, after 3 years, I'm still learning every day! So I can tell you that I'm still on the web for a little while!
Besides this blog, I also have a real life with a family and a job (both full-time)! But in the end, I always manage to find enough time to keep this blog alive by publishing at least one article every day of the week… Of course, I would like to increase this publication rate, but it is not possible alone. I have tried several times to get people to help me, and I thank them for their contribution, but they never lasted very long… it is always more motivating to work on your own project!
In short, Byothe.fr is celebrating its 3rd anniversary and I am proud to have managed to keep going for so long!
To conclude, I would like to give you a brief summary of the figures for these 3 years:
- More than 700 articles published
- 255 000 visitors
- nearly 400 page views
- 80% of French readers (followed by 7% of Belgians)
- 2 stock images
- 2 design changes (so 3 versions of the site)
- 13 competitions (including 10 in 2016!)
- 9 followers on Twitter
- 2 fans on Facebook
- But only 371 comments
Thank you!
