Hidden call: how to hide your phone number on iPhone and Android

Sometimes you need to hide your number when calling someone. If you're here, this is probably your case... Whatever the reason that pushes you to do it, I'm going to show you how to make a hidden call whether you're using an iPhone or an Android phone. I'll also explain how to do it if you want to arrange this directly with your operator, whether it's Orange, Free, Bouygues or SFR.

When you make a hidden call, the recipient of the call does not see your name or phone number, he only sees “Private”, “Anonymous” or a similar term depending on his device.

Make a hidden call on iPhone

As often with Apple , this type of manipulation is very simple to perform… The most complicated part is often finding where to look. So here is how to hide your phone number on iPhone.

  • Meet in the iPhone settings
  • In the settings, scroll down to Phone Number
In iPhone settings, scroll down to Phone - Hidden Calls
  • There, in the phone settings, find the option Show my number
In the phone settings, find the option Show my number Hidden Caller
  • Click on it and then disable the option on the next screen
Disable "Show my number" - Hidden Call

And that's it. Your iPhone will no longer display your phone number on future outgoing calls.

Hide your number on Android

If your phone is Android, nothing too complicated either to activate the hidden call option. Here again, you have to know where to look, but it is very simple to implement.

And there you have it. Your Android phone will no longer display your phone number on outgoing calls. Now you can call people privately!

Hide your number via your telephone operator (Orange, Bouygues, SFR, Free, etc.)

French mobile operators each have codes to dial to allow you to hide your phone number when you call.

Permanently hide your phone number on mobile or landline

If you want to enable the option Hidden call de permanently on your smartphone (or on your landline), simply dial the following code from the phone application: * 31 # + call key.

# 31 # + call key allows you to deactivate this option in order to display your number again to your correspondents.

Note that the code * # # 31 + call key allows you to check the status of the caller ID restriction on your phone line. It's more convenient than calling someone to test!

Hide your number call by call on mobile

To turn off caller ID for individual calls instead of all calls, you can use a specific prefix before dialing a phone number.

In fact, if you dial the # 31 # followed by the 10-digit number of your correspondent, your number will be hidden for this call.

This way, your operator makes sure that your phone number is hidden on the recipient's phone. This is a very convenient solution if you only want to make a hidden call or if you only want to do it very occasionally.

Please note that there are also solutions to temporarily hide your number on a landline:

  • Orange: 3651 + 10-digit telephone number of your correspondent
  • Bouygues Telecom: *1651 + 10-digit telephone number of your correspondent
  • B&You: *1651 + 10-digit telephone number of your correspondent
  • Free: *31* + 10-digit telephone number of your correspondent
  • SFR: 3651 + 10-digit telephone number of your correspondent
  • RED by SFR: 3651 + 10-digit telephone number of your correspondent
