I have been doing most of my shopping online for many years now… I use many merchant sites depending on my needs (most recently a seller of oven windows), but the one I use most regularly is Amazon. While most of the purchases I make are mostly conditioned by an immediate need, I sometimes treat myself… so I have time before going on the offensive and buying the desired product…
Having time to make a purchase is a real strength. It allows you to be opportune and wait for a price drop… but it is not always easy to be reactive! But that was before.
Indeed, CamelCamelCamel (I'm still looking for the origin of this name) is a tool free price tracker for products sold on Amazon that provides price drop alerts and price history graphs.
CamelCamelCamel's main feature is to notify you when a product you are interested in reaches a certain price.
To do this, search for your product directly in the site's search engine or copy the link to the product sheet on Amazon, set a threshold from which you wish to be notified and enter your email address and/or your Twitter account to receive alerts in the event of a price drop.
Note that this alert system also works to indicate the availability of a product previously out of stock!
Price History Chart
On some products, prices change a lot over time… I’m thinking in particular of memory cards whose prices drop inexorably (and so much the better). But some products can have ups and downs. It is therefore interesting to know if the product you want to buy has already been sold at a lower price on Amazon. This is why CamelCamelCamel offers a price history graph.
This handy chart also shows extreme prices and the dates when those prices occurred.
