If you still haven't upgraded to Windows 10, it may be because you have questions about the compatibility of your hardware (peripherals, screens, etc.) or even the compatibility of the software and games you use every day. It is always unpleasant to realize after the fact that your games no longer work, or worse, that your screen no longer displays anything, due to lack of compatibility.
And yet, there is a tool that many of you are unaware of: the Compatibility Center, and it's a tool from Microsoft! Its goal is precisely to answer the question "what works" with Windows 10.
The Compatibility Center lists thousands of commonly used devices and software programs so you can easily identify which ones will and won't work with different versions of Windows. You can use the site to get links to driver and software update downloads, and to read what other users have to say about product compatibility.
Its use is very simple. You can choose to search for products by category by rummaging through long lists that you can refine, or more simply perform a precise search on a game name or on a material.
By clicking on one of the products displayed, you will have more details and you can also look at its compatibility with other versions of Windows (7, 8 and 8.1).
Similarly, with a Microsoft account, you will be able to contribute your bit by saying whether, based on your tests, a particular product is compatible.
Well, on the other hand, given the amount of hardware, games, software (and versions) that have been created since computers have existed, there is a good chance that the results are not exhaustive. That said, the tool works well and covers a large majority of relatively recent products. So if you are still hesitant to upgrade to Windows 10, come and check that everything is compatible!
