Google already had some spoken last June for Chrome beta users, but now it's official, Chrome will automatically pause all ads that appear in Flash on the web pages you visit from September 1st.
The stated objective is to reduce the loading time of web pages, increase the battery life of laptops and reduce memory consumption by the Chrome browser (which is particularly resource-intensive).
Not all Flash content will be automatically paused, only ads and anything surrounding a (Flash) video you want to watch for example.
If you want to watch a Flash animation or video that has been automatically stopped, then simply click on it to start it.
However, Google, which represents a large part of online advertising, reassures advertisers by reminding them that Google AdWords automatically converts most of its clients' originally Flash advertisements into HTML 5... We really shouldn't shoot ourselves in the foot!
On the other hand, this announcement only brings Flash technology closer to its total disappearance from the web... for the worse but especially for the better!
