There are many uses for new tabs in Chrome, but with the extension New Tab Draft, you will be able to transform a new tab into a notepad!
This extension is no frills, when you open a new tab in Chrome, you will get a blank page on which you can take notes. If you close the tab and re-open a new one, you will find your notes. According to the developer of the extension, your notes are saved locally and therefore do not go through a server.
Additionally, on an empty notes page you can also perform calculations. If you type 4+2 and press "Enter", the extension will add the answer to your calculation!
Another cool little trick is that if you don't use Chrome for 2 minutes, your note will hide so that everyone can't see it.
Finally, if you want to keep your note, you can save it in text format by pressing CTRL+s.
So why use a notepad extension?
New Tab Draft is an extremely basic extension. It is not possible to keep more than one page of notes at a time, it is impossible to format your text… So why use it?
First of all, because it is practical! Easy to use, you always have it at hand to take notes on the fly and without losing concentration!
In the same genre, you can use it for save pieces of text retrieved from websites and you want to group them together to use them later or keep them on hand.
Another use of this extension is to use it as a to-do list (a to-do list). Write down all your tasks to be completed and erase them as you progress.
Finally you can use it to store text that you use regularly, for example if you want to send the same email to several people but you need to personalize it, or to keep sentences that you often retype...
In short, this little extension that doesn't look like much can be very useful and once installed, you won't stop using it!
