There are many online sites of file conversion…but not all of them are equal in terms of quality and features. And I have to say that CloudConvert impressed me with its features.
Indeed, this free (to a certain extent) online utility stands out for the incredible amount of formats it can handle:
- archives (Zip, Tar, WinAce, RAR…)
- audio (MP3, WMA…)
- computer-aided design – CAD or CAD (AutoCAD)
- document (Word, PDF, TXT…)
- ebook (.azw, .mobi, .epub…)
- font (.otf, .ttf…)
- image (PSD, JPG, PNG…)
- presentation (HTML, PDF, PowerPoint…)
- spreadsheet (CSV, Excel, Numbers…)
- vector (Illustrator, Corel Draw, PostScript, etc.)
- video (AVI, MP4, MOV, MKV…)
- website (allows you to convert a website to PDF or image)
In total no less than 218 formats to convert!
Convert a file with CloudConvert
The conversion process is very simple.
- Choose a file on your computer, on one of your Clouds (DropBox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.) or from a URL
- Select the format you want to convert it to (there are also a few options available depending on the type of document you want to convert)
- Start the conversion by pressing Start Conversion
- Let the utility run for a few moments
- Download your converted file
Among the notable points of this tool is that it offers a certain number of formats for which it is not necessarily obvious to find a conversion tool. This is particularly the case for transforming files from Photoshop (.psd) into images (JPG or other). The result is not yet perfect, but the development of the tool continues.
Likewise, each type of conversion has special options depending on the input and output formats (codec for videos or audio files), page numbers for documents…
Well, on the other hand, where the problem lies is that this tool is not 100% free... in fact, the free version is limited by quotas in terms of file size (1Gb max) and conversion time (25 minutes per month)... Too bad, but nevertheless, it's already good to take and it can really help out!
