Heavy user screen capture tools I have already used a lot of these software, but I did not know CloudShot. However, this software has been around since 2012 if we believe its update history and we are now at version 5.1, released in March 2016.
As is often the case with free tools, the possibilities of the editor that makes up this software are relatively limited, but what it can do, it does really well!
CloudShot – Download and Use
CloudShot is available in both an installable version and a portable version which therefore does not require installation (but will still save data in \Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\CloudShot which makes it not completely portable).
Once launched, you will have a small cloud-shaped icon with a lightning bolt in the right area of your taskbar. Right-clicking on this icon will take you to the settings and a single click will launch the snipping tool.
In the settings you can choose several options like the format of the screenshot (jpg or png), shortcuts for taking screenshots, connection with Dropbox, recording options…
When you start a capture, you will be able to choose what you want to capture. CloudShot detects windows and automatically adjusts to the windows you hover over! This makes it very convenient for capturing parts of the screen or windows.
Once an area is selected, you have several options: make a video of the selected area, take a capture in the clipboard, save the capture or upload it to Dropbox, Imgur…
But also, you can annotate your screenshot and add shapes to it…
In short, in a very prolific market of screen capture software, CloudShot is an excellent free tool that will make your job easier if you take a lot of screenshots. Easy to use and very well designed, it has advantageously replaced the native Windows screenshot tool for me for a few weeks now!
