While Ubisoft released its latest blockbuster game a few days ago, Tom Clancy's The Division, the French video game studio is enriching its promotion to attract new players thanks to Collapse, a doomsday simulator. The idea behind this little simulator is simple: how long would it take your city, and then the world, to collapse if you were patient 0 in a devastating smallpox epidemic.
Inspired by the fictional yet realistic storyline of Tom Clancy's The Division, Collapse is an end-of-the-world simulator that leverages real-world data to create a hyper-personalized experience that sets the scene for the game ahead of its release on March 8, 2016.
Collapse uses a sequence of interactive narrative elements to develop the consequences of a fictional variola chimera pandemic and illustrate the speed at which our society can collapse.TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISION plunges players into a city gripped by terror and chaos, a New York devastated by a fictional strain of pox, the Variola Chimera virus. The Division, a classified unit of autonomous tactical agents, steps in to restore order. This is where your mission begins.
This little game doesn't seem like much, but it aims to be hyperrealistic and was developed based on exhaustive studies and a very large volume of data. Thus, depending on the starting city you choose, the experience will be different. The spread of the virus will be based on the specific data for each city (population, density, hospitals, etc.).
It's all very well done (HTML5 and WebGL) and is a nice little promo for Ubisoft's new game.
Come on, I'll let you discover it!
