As one of the most powerful consumer mapping tools, Google Maps has a large number of often overlooked features. I told you about here of the ability to measure distances. Now here's how to display the geographic coordinates of a point, namely the latitude and longitude.
Indeed, with a few very simple manipulations, it is possible to have access to the web or mobile version of Google Maps to these famous coordinates! Let's see how to do it!
Show latitude and longitude on the web version of Google Maps
Although the option seems a bit hidden, it is actually very simple to display the latitude and longitude of a point on the web version of Google Maps.
To get started, search for a location using the Google Maps search bar. Once you're in the right place, right-click on the location you want to retrieve coordinates for and select the " More info about this place"

A small box will then open at the bottom of the Google Maps screen showing you information about the point you have selected, including a series of numbers!

These are of course the GPS coordinates of the point! If you are looking for these coordinates in Google Maps, you will come back to this exact place.
Show latitude and longitude on Google Maps mobile app
You can also use the Google Maps mobile app for Android and iOS and iPad to locate the exact GPS coordinates of any location in the world. The steps are similar for both operating systems, but an additional step is required on iOS.
To find GPS coordinates, open the Google Maps app on your smartphone or tablet. You can use the search bar to find a location or use the map view to locate it manually.
If you are looking to manually locate a location, you will need to long press and select that unmarked location until a red pin appears.
The coordinates will then be displayed directly in the Google Maps search bar for Android when you drop a pin.
On iOS, the extra step is very simple. Just click on the red marker that you placed or that corresponds to the result of your search.
A window with quite a bit of information will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click on it to access all the available information and you will see a little further down, the latitude and longitude of your point.
