I've been using a Kindle for quite a few years now and I can tell you that it has revolutionized my reading. Practical, space-saving, backlit... I must say that the e-reader has many advantages over the classic book. Some people can't do without the feeling of paper under their fingers... that's not me! Quite the opposite!
So, I take it everywhere, mainly to read books but my use may change since I discovered txtpaper.
txtpaper is a free site that allows you to convert a web page to ebook or PDF then send it to your Kindle, Kobo or other e-reader!
So this is a super handy tool for anyone who is used to reading a lot of articles on the web! txtpaper is really well done. The site is easy to use and really well thought out.
Convert a web page or article into an ebook with txtpaper
To use txtpaper, the first thing will be to retrieve the URL of the article or the Web page that you want to convert.
Then paste it into the field provided for this purpose on the txtpaper home page and click on the Edit/Preview button.
This will take you to a page that allows you to edit the article in order to delete unnecessary elements, possibly modify the title, etc. This page is presented in every way as an online text editor. You can really modify everything before launching the conversion.
In most cases, there is not much to change. The tool manages to focus on the essentials and even integrates the images present in the articles. So once you are satisfied, you can click on the button Convert. Then choose your export format from the following choices: PDF, MOBI, EPUB, markdown or plain text.
You can download the conversion result directly, but you can also specify themail address to which you want to send the article. This address can be your regular email address or the email address of your e-reader in order to automatically send the converted articles there! Great, right?
Finally, txtpaper also works with a bookmarklet. So you will be able to drag a small piece of code (available here) in your browser's bookmarks bar and when browsing the web you will be able to click on it to directly send the page you are viewing to txtxpaper.
txtpaper is really a great free tool that should really satisfy e-reader fans! One thing is for sure, it is already one of my favorites!
