Developed by Google to replace JPEG, PNG, and GIF, WebP is a lighter image format supported by modern browsers. Many websites now use this format to speed up their loading. However, image viewers are a bit behind in their support for WebP and it is not easy to find one that supports WebP images natively.
There are online services that will convert WebP images to JPG or PNG for you, but there is a much simpler method to convert WebP images to these formats more universally supported using Windows' Paint program. Here's how!

What is WebP and why is this format used?
Le WebP format is an image format created by Google that aims to provide higher quality images while having smaller file sizes. It supports both lossy and lossless images and can be used to replace commonly used image formats such as JPEG, PNG, and GIF.
The advantages of the WebP format include higher compression rates, which means that image files are smaller, which translates into faster loading times for end users. The WebP format also supports alpha transparency, which allows for the creation of images with transparent backgrounds, as well as the ability to create animations using the animated images. Finally, the WebP format is optimized for modern web browsers, so it is supported by a large number of web browsers, including Chrome, Opera, and Firefox.
