How to create an online comic strip with La Digitale's Digistrip tool?

Comics often open the door to reading, as they capture attention, help children follow a story, and allow them to experience humor, rhythm, and emotions. However, finding a comic perfectly suited to a child's age or interests isn't always easy. So why not create one yourself? Digistrip addresses this very idea by offering a simple space where you can assemble images and speech bubbles to create a story in minutes. Here's how to use it to bring your own stories to life.

Digistrip: a simple and free tool for creating your comics

Beyond the simple pleasure of reading, comics can also become a valuable learning tool. They help children understand how a story is structured, follow a sequence of actions, and put words to what they observe. This is why parents and teachers often use them to support reading or encourage self-expression. However, creating one's own comic remains difficult with standard software, which requires time and skills that not everyone possesses.

Digistrip offers a more suitable solution. The tool is part of La Digitale, a platform which develops simple and data-friendly solutions widely used in education. To use it, you open the creation page and can start immediately. The interface is intentionally uncluttered, so as not to distract from what matters most: the story you want to tell.

How to create your first comic strip on Digistrip: here's the guide

Prepare your board

When creating a new comic, La Digitale's tool first prompts you to give it a title and define a secret question. Once this is done, Digistrip offers a page composed of several panels that you can keep or rearrange according to the scene you want to depict. You can add, remove, or resize panels to give your story rhythm. This step primarily serves to establish the framework: it helps you visualize the progression of the narrative before adding characters or speech bubbles.

Add the essential visual elements

After choosing the layout, you can start filling each box. Digistrip offers several categories of images, ranging from backgrounds and characters to objects. Simply select an element and drag and drop it into the desired box; the tool automatically adjusts it to fit the available space. Some images indicate their source, especially when the illustration has been AI-generatedThis can be useful for properly citing sources in an academic setting. You can also import an image from your device, such as a photo or drawing, allowing you to create a short photo novel or incorporate a real person.

Bring your story to life with text

To make your characters speak or clarify the scene's progression, you can add different types of speech bubbles. The tool automatically places them in the panel; all you have to do is enter your text and then adjust the size or position if necessary. Digistrip offers several styles: dialogue bubbles, thought bubbles, narrative captions, and even some ready-made onomatopoeia. You can also change the font or the text color if you want to emphasize a particular intention. Again, everything is done directly from the toolbar visible on the screen.

Finalize and export your comic book

When your comic strip looks coherent, you can save it using the dedicated button. Digistrip doesn't automatically save your work, so it's a good idea to return to your security question to retrieve it later. The tool then allows you to download the comic as an image or share it via a link or a... QR codeThis is convenient for homework, classroom activities, or simply sharing with friends and family. If you wish to edit your comic later, simply open the associated link, and you will be taken directly back to the editing page.
