Step 1: Prepare the template

In the dashboard, open Templates › Download the templateSelect the characters you need: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, accents, and common symbols. Limiting the selection simplifies the cleanup process and remains within the limits of the free version.

Print the PDF on a white sheet of paper. Preferably use a thick black felt (0,7 mm or more) to ensure sharp edges. Two precautions:

1. Trace each letter inside the frame ; do not touch the guide lines.
2. Maintain consistent pressure to avoid line breaks that would complicate vectorization.

Allow the ink to dry before scanning or photographing the sheet.

Step 2: Scan and import the template

Scan the document to 300 dpi in greyscaleA flatbed scanner produces the best results, but a smartphone photo can work if the lighting is even and glare-free. Save the image as a PDF.

Then click Load the model To upload your scanned file, Calligraphr will process your font for a while.

Next, Calligraphr will automatically cut out each square and display a preview. You can delete any letters that look wrong and click on Add characters to your font to integrate them into your font.

Step 3: Correct and adjust the characters

Once the template has been analyzed, Calligraphr provides several tools to refine your work, which you can access by clicking on each of your characters:

• Change the character to adjust, zoom, erase or redraw your letter if necessary.

• Edit the baseline to align characters higher or lower than others.

Pay particular attention to accents, apostrophes, and commas: if they are misplaced, they disrupt the readability. Take your time; these settings determine the final quality of your font.

Step 4: Generate and install the font

Still within your font, click on Building the policeIf you wish, you can rename your creation.

You can then download your font in the format O.T.F. et FTT.

On Windows, double-clicking opens the installation panel; on macOS, drag the font into / Library / Fonts.

At this point, you're probably super eager to see what happens! So launch Word or a word processor and your font should appear in the font options.

Select it and start to Write your most beautiful text...And ta-da! And here's the final result… and it's pretty good (at least it really looks like my Handwriting)!
