If you are reading this article, you are undoubtedly familiar with the famous mobile game Flappy Bird, developed by Vietnamese Nguyen Ha Dong and which caused a lot of talk when it was released on iOS in 2013 due to its simplicity and addictive side.
Since then, a lot of water has passed under the bridge and many other mobile games have created a buzz, but Flappy Bird regularly resurfaces thanks to clones or other games that more or less take up its basic principles.
The game, precisely, consists simply of making a little bird fly by clicking on the screen to flap its wings while avoiding as many obstacles as possible. The objective is simple and unique, go as far as possible... In terms of graphics, here too, we focus on simplicity. A little pixelated yellow bird that flaps its wings and must avoid tubes straight out of Mario Bros.
And recently, Jared Feldman, a young American developer, put online Flappy Generator, a tool that allows you to completely customize Flappy Bird's graphics.
To do this, go to Flappy Generator and follow the on-screen instructions. You will have to give a name to your version of Flappy Bird and that's when things get complicated since you will have to replace each of the images in the game with images of the right size. For example, for the bird, you will need an image in 36×26 pixels... There are 5 images in total to provide: the bird, the top tubes, the bottom tubes, the background and the ground...
If you want, you can even choose your own soundtrack and sound effects.
In short, a bit of work, but nothing insurmountable!
Note that if you don't have the courage to create your own version, you can try other people's versions or even play the original game!
I'll let you discover... and don't hesitate to show us your creations in the comments!
