Deep Word lets you create convincing deepfakes for free and very easily!

Today, the phenomenon of "deepfakes" is becoming a real problem in terms of communication. If you have never heard of it, a deepfake is an image synthesis technique using artificial intelligence to superimpose an audio track on a video… with this system you can make anyone say anything… and if it’s done well, everyone will believe it! It’s therefore difficult not to be trapped by realistic videos that would like to convey a completely bogus message in the mouth of a personality.

Deep Word is therefore an online tool (partly free) which will allow you to very easily create completely artificial videos in a few minutes.

Create a deepfake with Deep Word

To create a video from scratch with this tool, you only need two things: a clip in which the person who will star in the deepfake must be clearly visible, ideally alone, without obstacles in the field of vision and from the front. Then, you need an audio source, which can be recorded in any language, but the sound must be of very good quality, without noise or exaggerated volume variations.

If you don't have a video, Deep Word provides you with a dozen videos that you can use at your leisure. If you don't have audio, same problem, the site has a few examples and offers you the possibility of creating an audio track using a text-to-speech engine integrated into the application that will transform your text into the voice of your choice (at the time of writing, the two French female voices were not working).

With all these elements, Deep Word will then synchronize the movements of the jaw and lips of the protagonist of the video with the audio file that you have used. The process of video editing may take 5-15 minutes, but you will receive an email notification to let you know that your video is available and you can download it.

In its free version, Deep Word imposes some limitations and therefore imposes a maximum quality of 720p, a maximum duration of one minute and you will only be able to generate 5 videos per month on which the Deep Word logo will appear in a corner. To remove these restrictions, you can opt for a paid subscription (starting at $14.99).

Please note that this tool is still in beta and its developers are fully aware of the slowness that may exist and should resolve them as soon as possible!
