Managing and organizing your mailbox can quickly become a real headache. If you lose track, you can quickly become overwhelmed and end up with hundreds, even thousands of unread emails. Some people don't care at all, while others like me have a little more trouble with an inbox that is overflowing with unread emails!
However, there is an option in Gmail that can solve this problem! Since it is a somewhat radical solution, it is best not to use it too often. Above all, it allows you to get back on track!
Gmail allows us to completely delete all the emails we have received or sent at once, as well as mark each one as read. The procedure is extremely simple and, through a series of steps, I will show you how to do it so that you no longer have to worry about the little notification badge of unread emails!
Besides, deleting your entire inbox from time to time can be very useful. Not only to preserve your sanity, but also to save money.Google Drive storage space, which is not insignificant. An email can weigh up to 25 MB, or even more depending on its content and attachments!
To get an idea of how much space you have left in your Gmail box and in your Google account in general, just visit the Google One storage dedicated page. A well-stocked mailbox can take up a significant amount of space on your Google account. This storage is shared between Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos!

If you're just looking to save some storage space on Google, the coolest thing is probably to filter the heaviest emails in order to delete them.
On the other hand, if you are here for clean out and remove everything, here is the procedure to follow. Don't worry, we will see at the same time how to mark all gmail emails as read, because the approach is the same!
How to mark as read or delete all emails in Gmail?
To perform this delicate manipulation, you will have to access Gmail from your computer browser or possibly from your smartphone browser, but by activating the "computer view" of Gmail. The option that we are going to use is in fact only available on the computer version of the messaging service.
Once on Gmail and connected to your mailbox, click on the inbox. Then make sure to display more messages. To do this, if your box is organized by message types ("Starred messages", "Unread messages" ...) locate the "Other messages" section and click on the message count in the section, on the right of the screen. This will allow you to "display more messages".

Then click on the checkbox located at the top left and which allows you to select all the emails visible on the screen. You will then have an option that will appear at the top of your box so that you can select all the messages in your inbox.
Click on it!

All your messages are now selected.
It is then possible to manipulate them as you wish. You can thus delete all the selected messages by clicking on the trash at the top. If you want to mark all your messages as read (or unread) click on the open envelope… As you will have understood, it is also possible to archive all your messages, to move them to a folder…
If you choose to delete everything, your emails will be moved to the Gmail trash folder where they will be permanently deleted after 30 days. You can empty the trash folder if you want to immediately recover storage space. Be careful, if you empty your trash folder your emails will disappear forever! Remember to save or download to your computer your most important emails!
Note that these steps also work with any Gmail folder if you only want to clean up a specific folder.
