The other day, while cleaning out my computer, I realized that in many cases, I had multiple instances of the same files. Especially in my photos.
Over time, we move, copy and paste a lot of files, creating duplicates or even multiple copies of the same file.
So, I started looking for a solution to find all these duplicates, and I came across a little software that seems to be a reference in the field: dupeGuru.
Currently in its version 4.0, dupeGuru is notably available for free in French for Windows and Mac. The developer, who hates Windows, has unfortunately decided to stop development for this platform. But the old versions still work.
This software will scan all the names and contents of your files to compare them, even if the file names are not exactly the same. dupeGuru is especially suitable for music files and photos.
Its use is quite simple.
To begin, you need to choose the location(s) you want to scan on your computer.
A window will then display all the duplicates present on your computer:
You will then just have to sort through your duplicates to keep only the one that interests you.
It's a shame that its developer doesn't want to continue developing the Windows version, but for now it still works, so enjoy!
