If you are a WhatsApp savvy user you probably know that the little check marks next to the time on your messages correspond to the status of your message. One gray check mark means your message has been sent. Two gray check marks means it has been received by all recipients. And finally two blue check marks mean that all your recipients have opened the message!
This read receipt system is very practical, but maybe you don't want your contacts to know when you read their messages. Here's how to prevent your contacts from seeing that you've read their messages on WhatsApp!
First of all open WhatsApp and go to Settings -> USER LOGIN -> Confidentiality.
At the very bottom of the page, press the button Read receipts to gray it out.
Your contacts will no longer be able to know that you have read their messages. But in the interest of reciprocity, WhatsApp developers have made it so that if you disable read receipts, you will also not be able to see them for messages you send.
Finally, in group chats, read receipts cannot be disabled!
To ensure greater discretion on WhatsApp, you can also click on the “Seen on” setting and choose No one. This way, your contacts won't be able to know the time of your last connection to WhatsApp.
In short, WhatsApp is a very good messaging application, relatively well secured, but for more discretion you can adjust these settings and reduce your visibility! We regret however that there is no possibility to manage these options contact by contact!
