Worried about what your kids might discover while gaming online? Want a little more control over their gaming activities? Look no further! Today, I'm going to walk you through the process of enabling Epic Games parental controls (which will also allow you to enable Fortnite parental controls). It's quick, easy, and will give you the peace of mind you're looking for. Follow along!
Step by step guide to enable Epic Games parental controls
Even though the Epic Games website can sometimes seem a little opaque, the manipulation to activate parental controls for Fortnite and other Epic games is not that complicated.
Step 1: Go to the website epicgames.com and log in to your account before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: At the top right, hover over theprofile icon. A menu will appear, then click on the option USER LOGIN.

Step 3: On the new page, navigate through the left menu. Look for the Control option parental and click on it.

Step 4: If you haven't already, you'll see a space to create a PIN. This code must be 6 digits long and complex enough that your child can't guess it. Enter it and click Create a PIN code.

Step 5: Now that your PIN code is created, let's get down to business. You may need to enter this new code to access the next page. You will then arrive at the tab Parental control Epic Games. This one is made up of 4 sub-pages:
- General
- Social permissions
- Email Preferences
- Fortnite Settings
The page that will interest us here is the first one: General. By the way, as you can see in the section General settings, this is where you can change your pin code if necessary.

Step 6: Below you will find a section Epic Games Payments. This setting allows you to require your PIN code to make a payment on the Epic Games website.
So, Epic Games specifies how this option works:
- Enabled: Your Parental Controls PIN will be required to make payments through the Epic Games payment service. This setting does not affect payments made on gaming platforms like Playstation, Steam, Xbox, and Switch, or purchases made with in-game currencies, such as V-Bucks in Fortnite.
- Disabled : Your child will be able to make purchases without a PIN code.
Note: Enabling “Always require a PIN for purchases when using the Epic Games payment service” does not automatically cancel any active subscriptions your child may have.
Enable this option by clicking the switch on the left.

Step 7: Last but not least, the classification of games that your child can play without a PIN code. In the Epic Games Store section a little further down, the option PIN code to purchase/download games exceeding age rating allows you to determine the age limit for downloading games.
To adjust this, simply slide the slider to the desired rating (PEGI 3 to PEGI 18 or unrated to be able to download everything without a PIN). And that's it!

Reminder: the PEGI classification (Pan-European game information) corresponds to the age from which the game is appropriate. Thus PEGI12 indicates that the game is not suitable for children under 12 years old.
Manage Social Permissions in Fortnite or Epic Games
To go a little further, it is also possible to manage your children's social interactions in Epic games.
To do this, still in the Epic Games parental control, go to the nail Social permissions.
Here you will be able to determine several things:
- using the PIN code to add Epic friends, for this, just activate the option
Require PIN to add Epic friends - Epic voice chat and text chat permissions with settings to determine who your child can use Epic voice chat or text chat with.

How to turn off Fortnite or Epic Games parental controls?
To turn off Epic Games parental controls, It's very simple provided you know the parental control PIN code. Well yes! Hence the interest in choosing a solid PIN code to prevent your dear little ones from taking justice into their own hands!
Simply go back to the parental control options on the Epic Games website and disable all the settings seen above.
However, once the PIN code is set up, it is not possible to remove it... it will just be useless since it will no longer be requested if you have disabled all the control options.
And there you have it! Now you are armed to protect your children from the potential dangers of the internet and online gaming, while allowing them to enjoy Fortnite to the fullest and other games on Epic Games. Remember, parental controls are also an opportunity to chat with your children about their favorite games and share moments of complicity. Come on, have fun and play safely!
