It's been a long time since I spoke to you about services file sharing and yet new sites appear regularly.
Corn (Mais) Envelope, which is part of these sites, is not a service of files transfert bulky as the others. Indeed, the originality of Envelop is that it works with the decentralized architecture of the Blockstack platform… so what ? Well, apps that use Blockstack protect your digital rights and are powered by the Stacks blockchain. So, privacy and security are at the core of how Envelop works! And it’s really well done!
To use Envelop, you will need to create a 100% free user account. Creating an account on Envelop gives you access to online storage space, but also automatically creates an account on Blockstack (unless you already have one and want to use it).
It is then possible to download files into your space, which will allow you to generate links that you can send to your contacts in complete security. They will only have to click on the link and then press the "Download" button to retrieve the file.
And the big advantage of this online space is that you will be able to manage the files that you have put there: deletion, recovery of the link, storage… It is super practical, especially since storage space offered by Envelop is Unlimited !!!
About the maximum file size that you can put online, nothing is clearly mentioned. I tested with a 4.29GB file and it went through without a problem, I didn't have anything bigger on hand to do other tests, but it's already not bad!
Note that the service has a mobile application for Android that will allow you to download, share and manage your files from anywhere!
Finally, if you are a developer, you will probably be interested to know that this tool is open source and hasa GitHub repository thanks to which you will be able to get your hands dirty with the code!
