Erase.bg: Automatically remove background from an image online

In 2013, when I told you about clippingmagic, I had no idea that I would be presenting you with tools to automatically remove the background from an image so often… And yet, since then, many online clipping utilities image were released: Background Burner (disappeared since RIP), FocoClipping, ApowerSoft, Trace…to name just a handful.

And it's not over, because I regularly discover tools that allow you to remove the background from your images. This is still the case forerase.bg. And one thing is for sure, although very simple in terms of functionality, this free tool proves to be extremely effective for cutting out an image! The proof is in this photo:

If there is something difficult to cut out, it is hair or fur. And as you can see above, the outline of this dog is particularly precise and allows you to recover all its hair! A real feat! To achieve such a result, the tool uses theartificial intelligence with a good dose of machine learning!

Automatically remove background from an image with Erase.bg

Although particularly effective, Erase.bg is particularly easy to use. Indeed, no options and settings!

To remove the background of an image, simply upload an image to the site either by searching for it using the file explorer or by dragging or pasting it onto the Erase.bg home page.

The tool will then launch and offer you your cropped image in a few seconds. No frills…

You can then retrieve the result in PNG format with a transparent background. The good news is that your reprocessed photo will keep exactly the same dimensions as the original photo. No cropping, no resizing…

In terms of constraints, Erase.bg accepts the most common photo formats: PNG, JPG, JPEG and WEBP. You should not exceed a resolution of 5000×5000 px, but that's already not bad!

Finally, what is very interesting with this tool is that although it is free, there is no limit to its use. You can process as many images as you want (and we keep our fingers crossed that it stays that way).

Some examples of clippings made with Erase.bg

So, as good examples are worth a thousand words, here are some images from image banks with which I tested Erase.bg. And frankly, in most cases, the result is really good!

The only small regret that one can have with this tool is the total absence of settings allowing to refine or correct a clipping which would not be entirely satisfactory... but in a certain way as it does its job well these options are perhaps not necessary.
