There are many websites on the Internet that allow you to transfer large files… but they are not all equal. You all know the famous WeTransfer, a reference in this field, but there are many others that are created or disappear in total anonymity. However, some of them are worth taking a closer look at.
This is particularly the case Firefox Send, offered by the Mozilla Foundation (the creator of the famous Firefox browser), which has advantages that should not be overlooked in the case of some of your shares.

The first strong point of Firefox Send is that it allows you to send up to 2.5 GB of data for free (provided you create an account, otherwise the limit is 1 GB).
So far, it's pretty ordinary, except that Mozilla has gone all out in terms of protecting your privacy. Indeed, the data that will transit via Firefox Send is encrypted from end to end, ensuring the security of your data between the moment it is shared and the moment your files are opened by the recipient. In addition, Mozilla's signature in terms of data security is really reassuring compared to a standard system that would come from who knows where.

Second advantage and probably the most original, this service offers several possibilities of expiry of your files… Indeed, it is not necessarily pleasant to know that important or confidential files are wandering around in the wild (even if they are secure) for too long or indefinite a period.
So, you will be able to determine that your file will self-destruct after a certain number of downloads (from 1 to 100) and/or after a defined period of time (from 5 minutes to 7 days).
Once you have determined all of this and chosen your files to send, these will be uploaded and the tool will provide you with a link that you can communicate to your recipient.
Using this link, the recipient will be able to download your files by providing a password if you have set it up that way. What's nice is that the tool allows you to view the list of files included in the archive before downloading it.
This free file transfer service is really well designed and the fact that it is managed by Mozilla is a real guarantee of seriousness and security. A small regret however, once your files have been uploaded, it is not possible to know their status: have they been downloaded 3x, is the link expired… too bad, that would have been a real plus!
