Gnoosic is a pretty interesting online service. Its purpose is to help you find bands you might like based on the bands you already like!
Gnoosic, musical recommendation based on your tastes
The principle is quite simple and the recommendations that result from it are quite basic and do not use the usual modern tools based on complex algorithms based on your habits, as can be done, for example, by Apple's "Genius" function in iTunes.
Here, everything is much simpler (as reflected in the minimalist interface). You just need to enter the names of 3 groups that you like and Gnoosic will suggest groups that you might like based on your tastes (or at least based on the tastes of other Gnoosic users).
Indeed, initially blank, the Gnod database, the system behind Gnoosic, is enriched as users make requests... The more people search based on their 3 favorite groups, the more the quality of the database and its relevance will be refined.
Its developer, the German Marek Gibney, describes the engine as follows Gnod :
Gnod is a self-adapting system that learns about the outside world by asking its visitors what they like and don't like. In this version of Gnod, it's all about music.
Gnod is sort of a search engine for music you don't know. It will ask you what music you like and suggest what you might like too.
When I put Gnod online, its database was completely empty. Now it contains thousands of groups and a lot of knowledge about who likes what. And Gnod learns more every day.
A little simplistic and minimalist, the principle of Gnoosic is nevertheless nice and will perhaps allow you to discover groups that you might have missed!
Gnoosic, a tool very similar to Music-Map
In the same kind of tool for finding new musical ideas, we can also talk about Music-MapThis free online tool presents itself as “the tourist map of music”.
This tool therefore presents music groups that you might like on a sort of mind map with groups that are more or less close to your affinities!
If you are looking for something new! Don't hesitate to try these tools!
