There are a multitude of smartphone apps that allow you to enhance your photos, apply a filter to them or transform them using the style of famous painters… but when you are on your computer, it is more difficult to do such an operation.
Online photo editing platform Fotor (which also has a smartphone app) has launched a web application called Goart whose sole and unique purpose is to allow you to transform a photo into a painting in the style of famous styles or artists.
It is free to use and really very simple.
Turn a photo into a painting for free with GoArt
To begin, you will need to upload a photo from your computer.
Then you will be able to choose from nearly 40 painting styles such as Dadaism, Surrealism, Impressionism, Pop Art, Expressionism, etc. to transform your image by reproducing the key elements of the chosen style.
To do this, simply click on one of the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen and in a few seconds you will have your “painted” photo.
The result is really great and you can adjust the intensity of the style applied using the slider that appears below the image.
Once you are satisfied with the result, the “Save” button will allow you to save the photo on your computer at JPG format.
Not all styles look good with every photo, but by experimenting you should find some cool things!
Here are some examples of what this can look like with the photo I used as an illustration:
Pointillism
Dadaism
Fauvism
Structuralism
Abstractionism
Mosaic (Defoliation)
