Did you know that it is possible to measure distances directly on the map between 2 or more points on Google Maps?
This option has been around in Google Labs (the experimental part of Google) for some time, but now it's a feature available to everyone.
To measure the distance between points, simply right-click on the map where you want to mark a first point, then simply click wherever you want to add waypoints (the distance will accumulate while displaying markers every 500 meters).
Quite handy, this feature also gives you the ability to move the points you have created by dragging them on the map.
Please note that the routes do not follow roads and therefore indicate distances “as the crow flies”.
To reset everything, just right-click again and select “Clear measurement”. All your points will then be deleted.
In short, as usual, Google is constantly innovating and regularly offers new features to its online tools... So much the better for us!
