How to create a QR code easily and for free?

While the QR code seemed relatively useless in everyday life, the health crisis linked to COVID seems to have demonstrated the opposite: restaurant menus, health passes, etc. are all uses that have restored the nobility of this modern evolution of the famous barcode.

As a result, many sites now offer to help you create QR codes more or less for free. After testing several that always end up asking you to pay to get something correct, I stopped at QR Code Monkey which allows you to make personalized codes and download them for free.

Easy to use and relatively ergonomic, QR Code Monkey allows you to create QR codes for all your needs: sharing URLs, displaying text, communicating your contact details, sharing your WiFi password, forward your Twitter account…

When creating a Free QR code, the first thing to do is obviously to integrate your content: URL, text, email address, etc.

Once this first step is done, the fun part begins. You will be able to customize your QR code so that it does not look like a simple concentration of black squares.

For this, QR Code Monkey allows you to modify quite a few things. Thus, you will be able to modify the colors of the QR code: choose a solid color, a gradient, modify the color of the markers or the background…

You can also add a logo that will appear in the center of the code… useful, for example, to indicate that the code links to your Facebook or your website.

Finally, it is also possible to customize the style of the QR code: shape of the code points, outline and center of the markers.

Once your QR Code is ready, you can adjust its size from 200 to 2000 pixels on each side. Then press create my code to view the rendering and you just have to download it if you are satisfied. QR Code Monkey offers several formats: PNG, SVG, PDF or EPS depending on how you will use it!

And here is the result with two examples that I created. The first, fanciful, refers to my Twitter account and the 2nd, a little more pro, to Byothe.fr.

Before any broadcast, do not forget to test your QR code to make sure that it works well. In some cases or with certain colors, the QR code may be difficult to read.
