A few years ago, web browser developers gave webmasters the option to send you notifications. These notifications can, for example, concern the publication of a new article on a news site or warn of a flash sale on an e-commerce site. It's up to you to accept them or not. But a little as with cookies, what is annoying is not receiving selected notifications, but rather being bothered by a pop-up asking if you want to enable notifications for the site you are currently visiting.
In reality, the cases where you need to allow a website to send you a notification are very rare. So if you don't find this feature useful, we'll show you how to fix it once and for all on the most popular web browsers!
On Google Chrome (desktop version)
- click on the 3 small vertical dots at the top right of the browser and select Settings
- go in Confidentialité et sécurité and Site Settings
- in the section Permissions click on Notifications
- you just have to select the option Do not allow sites to send notifications

On Google Chrome (mobile version)
In the iOS version of Chrome, notifications in the browser are disabled by default and cannot be enabled. On Chrome for Android, however, it is possible to disable them.
- click on the 3 small vertical dots at the top right of the browser and select Settings
- about advanced settings, go to Site Settings
- then click on Notifications
- disable the option that says “ Sites may ask you for permission to send notifications«

On Firefox
- Click on the hamburger (the three horizontal lines) at the top right of the browser and select Options
- on the left, click on Privacy and security
- in the sections Permissions, find the option Notifications And click on the button Settings… on his right
- In the window that appears, check the box Block new requests to enable notifications then Save Changes

On Safari
- Click on safari in the upper left corner of the screen, then on Preferences
- Then navigate to General and choose Notifications
- You will see a box there titled “ Allow websites to ask for permission to send notifications". Just turn it off and you're done!
On Edge
- click on the 3 small vertical dots at the top right of the browser and select Settings
- In the left bar, click on Cookies and site permissions
- in the section Site Permissions, locate the area starting with All permissions and you should find the option Notifications. Click on it.
- In the page that opens, turn off the "Ask me before sending" button.

And there you have it! It's not more complicated than that. If you're using a browser that isn't on this list, you should usually be able to find the option to turn off notifications by searching for it in the Settings menu.
