Like many people, I use Chrome's autocomplete feature every day to save time. Start typing the first few letters of a URL in the address bar, and Chrome will give you a list of suggestions that match your input. The more letters you type, the more refined Chrome's suggestions become.
But what if Chrome keeps suggesting an address that's not relevant? For example, if you made a typo? Or if you're using a shared computer and don't want other users to find out what sites you've visited. Autofill can be a privacy risk. Clearly, it can be worth doing a little cleaning up!
So let's see how to remove a single URL from Chrome's autofill suggestions? It's very simple and yet, surprisingly enough, nowhere in the Google app does it explain how to do it!
How to remove a URL from Chrome autofill?
We'll see step by step how to do it, but rest assured it's extremely simple:
- Open Chrome (yeah)
- Start typing the first few letters of the URL you want to remove
- Use the key Down arrow to highlight the URL
- Then press the May (Shift) + Delete (delete)
- URL is now removed from autosuggestion
Easy !
Be careful, you will have to repeat this procedure each time you return to the URL in question!
Of course, if there are a lot of entries you want to remove, you may have to take a more drastic option and clear all browsing data from Chrome. This will give you a fresh start!
To clear Chrome's browsing data, open the options menu (the 3 vertical dots at the top right of the interface) and go to Settings.
On the page that opens, left-click on the three horizontal bars to open a new menu and go to Advanced Settings > Privacy & Security.
In the page that opens, locate the section Privacy & Security > Clear Browsing Data > Advanced Settings. Check the box Navigation history and press Erase data.
This manipulation will have the effect of deleting all your browsing history and therefore all Chrome suggestions.

sorry but for me none of this works, the url keeps coming back
Hello Marco, I just tried again and it works fine by doing SHIFT + DEL
