How to turn off autoplay videos on Twitter and Facebook?

I don't know if you agree with me, but there is something that I find quite annoying about Facebook and Twitter is that when you browse these social networks and scroll through the pages, the videos start automatically.

Be aware, however, that although this is a default setting, it is possible to modify the behavior of videos on both Twitter and Facebook; and as you will see, it is rather easy to do!

Disable autoplay videos on Twitter

Let's start with Twitter.

At the bottom of the menu on the left of the page, click the button Plus (3 points surrounded by a circle)

disable autoplay of videos

In the menu that opens as an overlay, click on Settings and Support and Settings and privacy.

Then click Accessibility, display and languages and finally Use of data.

In the window that appears, click Automatic playback.

And finally, in the AutoPlay window, the parameter should normally be set to default on On cell phone or Wi-Fi. Click on the button Never.

And there you have it, you will no longer have automatic reading on Twitter! If you want to go faster you can click directly on the link of the autoplay settings.

Disable autoplay of videos on Facebook

Now it's Facebook's turn.

Start by clicking on the small arrow at the top right of the Facebook interface or on your profile picture at the top right also then select Settings and privacy.

In the menu that appears, click Settings.

You will then arrive at the Facebook settings page. At the very bottom, in the left menu, click on Videos, which will take you to the Video Settings page.

Locate the section Auto-play videos and click on the small drop-down menu which should be positioned on the Default option. Then select the option No to prevent automatic playback of videos on facebook.

And there you have it! You will no longer be bothered by videos that start by themselves! It is also possible to click on this link to go directly to the Facebook video settings page.

  1. Hello, I would like to ask you a question. On YouTube the blue "autoplay" button has disappeared, I don't know how to put this button back.
Thank you in advance for your reply. Mireille
