On X (Twitter), Threads, Instagram or elsewhere, you have certainly come across some smart people who managed to stand out by using some special fonts : crossed out, italics, underlined, boxed…

While this may come as a surprise, it's actually something very simple. Instead of using traditional fonts, these people used a text converter to Unicode characters.
Le Unicode standard is an international standard for encoding text that allows all characters in all writing systems to be assigned a unique identifier. This Unicode standard consists of a repertoire of 143 characters… which leaves a bit of room for fun, especially since it is universal.
Unsurprisingly and to our great pleasure, there are online platforms allowing convert texts or pieces of text in different Unicode characters with particular styles.
This is the case, for example, of Character Calculator or YayText which offer a large number of Unicode styles to brighten up or highlight your writing on the Internet.
Use Special Fonts on Social Media with Character Calculator
Font Changer, proposed by the site Character Calculator is an ultra-simple tool, but extremely effective… and, what’s more, it is 100% free ! Honestly, what more could you ask for?
Upon landing on the site, a field at the very top invites you to enter the text you want to style. Just below, the page is organized into a series of boxes, each dedicated to a different Unicode style.
These inserts display in real time render your text in all available styles. No need to validate anything: you type, and you instantly see the result.

All you have to do is scroll down the page until you find the style that suits you, then click on theclipboard icon to copy the styled text… or on theX icon to send it directly to Twitter. Simple, fast, effective!
Convert text to Unicode characters with YayText
YayText is a good alternative, also 100% free and really very simple to use although a little less ergonomic.
The homepage of the site displays a text box in which you can write or paste text and the different styles offered will be displayed in real time below.

All you have to do is locate the style you need and click the "Copy" button to store it in your computer's clipboard.
Then paste it where you need it, make some adjustments and optionally combine different styles in your sentence (by converting each piece individually)… and you're done!
YayText offers different styles of text: underlined, crossed out, with smileys, upside down, in small caps, superscript/subscript, in bubbles or squares, in bold, in italics, in script font... Normally there is a choice and this should allow you to stand out from the crowd on social networks!
Beyond these two tools, there are other sites like AnyTextEditor ou Qaz.wtf who do pretty much the same thing!
Now you know how to use special styles and fonts on social media… But will you do it?
