Launched in January 2019, Icedrive is a new online data storage service in the cloud that competes with giants of the genre such as Dropbox, Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.
Like all players on the market, Icedrive has a free version and a paid version. I will just talk to you about the free version which is rather nice compared to what is currently available.
Indeed, in its basic version, Icedrive allows you to benefit from 10GB of free storage space where a Dropbox only offers 2!
In terms of how it works, you'll need to install the Icedrive app on your computer (Windows only at the moment) and you'll be able to access your cloud documents as if they were a local hard drive or USB stick plugged into your computer. Data synchronization is a point that sets this service apart from Dropbox, because by mounting a network drive on your computer you can access your files online from your computer without having to sync them first. This saves disk space and time. However, the downside is that you won't be able to access your files if you're offline.

Finally, on Android, you will be able to use a dedicated application to access your documents... we will however regret the absence of an application on iOS, but you can always use the web version of the service.
If you're used to sharing files stored in the cloud, Icedrive will allow you to share links to your files in a fairly standard way, but we regret the lack of compatibility of the service with Office Online or Google Docs, preventing you from editing your files directly online.
In short, if you are looking for new free online storage solutions, take a look at Icedrive, you will certainly be happy to find 10 GB of free space there!
