You like the website you just visited and you would like to use its font but you can't find what it is. You ask the question on a few forums in case someone can help you but to no avail.
And yet, there is a tool that will allow you to find the font used for text on just about any web page. It is Fount, it's free and it works really well.
Besides, it's all in its name since "Fount" is the contraction of the words " Font » (police) and « Found " (found). Not bad!
To get started, simply go to the Fount website at this address.
- Select the large button with your mouse that says "Fount" and drag it to the bookmarks bar of your web browser (I tested it without any problems with Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox. Safari is also compatible but I have not tested it).
- Go to the website that interests you
- Click on “Fount” in your bookmarks bar
- Select the text you want to identify
- And voila
A small window will open in the top right corner of your browser and will tell you the name of the font of the text you have selected. The cherry on the cake is that you will even have information on the size of the font, its thickness ("font weight" which lets you know if a font is bold and to what degree) and its style (italic, etc.).
If the font is available on Google Fonts, you will even be entitled to a link to its dedicated page where you can get more information.
The results are really good quality and match the font you see on screen and not the ones that should be displayed (some websites set fonts in their pages, but other fonts are displayed on your screen).
Simple, efficient and free, this Javascript tool has everything to please! Hurry up and add it to your favorites bar!
