Over the years since its first model in 2007, the iPhone has evolved iteratively, with each new model improving on the previous one. While these improvements may seem marginal from one year to the next, when you look at the iPhone's evolution over the long term, these improvements seem much more impressive.
The best example of this evolution is probably in the camera. If you remember the photos taken with the first models of the iPhone, the difference in quality is really noticeable compared to more recent devices. And for good reason, the first iPhone only had a 2 megapixel camera without any flash whereas the iPhone 6s has 12.
