The online poker site PokerStars occasionally publishes infographics based on research conducted by the brand, and they have just released the infographic "The Mental Mind in Poker" which provides some rather interesting information, with a scientific approach that gives good advice on how to improve your poker skills. When you look more closely, you will notice that these tips can be used for most card games, but also logic games like chess or even game of go. In addition, there are many bridges between online poker and video games. This research can therefore function more generally as an indicator for developing skills in online games and by extension in networks in good conditions.
The infographic separates brain functions, application, and preparation, with different themes each time: analyzing, having iron discipline, having self-confidence, being patient and balanced, hiding one's emotions, sowing trouble, and staying focused. For example, we discover that practicing physical activity and following a diet rich in vitamin B6, magnesium, and omega 3 and 6 improves cognitive functions and the ability to make decisions, or that practicing a sport allows you to produce endorphins and therefore better limit the repercussions of unforeseen events during a game.
What is most surprising? That several areas of the brain are solicited and therefore strengthened thanks to the game, with self-confidence stimulating the receptors ofOxytocin in the hypothalamus and hippocampus, or that being patient and waiting for a reward generates dopamine via increased activity in the prefrontal area. Meditation is also indicated for the purpose of control in the face of adversity and self-awareness to better manage one's emotions.
So what do you think about cycling, yoga, and eating fish and canola oil to play better?
