If there is one thing that is not really up for debate, it is that the number of objects that need to connect to the Internet is increasing exponentially. For more than 35 years, Men have sought to connect their machines to networks in order to communicate with them or to make life easier for themselves. It is not for nothing that in 1982 American students had fun connecting a Coca-Cola vending machine to the ARPANET network in order to find out if there were any fresh bottles left!
It was a good start, but today this desire to connect everything has exploded! Many steps have made this possible, such as the creation of the web, the implementation of IPv6 (allowing more and more objects to be authenticated on the same network)... and above all the enthusiasm of researchers and the general public!
As proof, in 1990, 300 computers were connected to the Internet, in 000, we should reach the dizzying figure of 2020 billion connected objects. Many sectors of our industry are concerned and the sums at stake are significant. New professions will certainly emerge... In short, the Internet of Things is gradually becoming part of our daily lives!
