Article updated on January 24, 2021

The evolution of the design of Logos can be traced back to ancient Greece. However, the creation of modern logos dates back to the early days of the Renaissance, around the 13th century. Goldsmiths, masons, paper makers and potters were among the first to use marks using gold pressings, chiseled symbols, watermarks on paper and fingerprints on pottery for example.

Today, most companies, products, trademarks, services, organizations and other entities use a ideogram (sign, icon), an emblem (symbol) or a combination of signs as a logo. However, only a few of the thousands of ideograms are recognized without a name. When we see these, we can easily recognize the brand behind them.

In computer graphics Next up let's look at the history and evolution of well-known logo designs.
